Mini OSD For APM 2.6/2.8
The Mini OSD for APM 2.6 and APM 2.8 is a compact Arduino-based on-screen display board tailored specifically for use with ArduPilot Mega (APM) and the MAVlink protocol. Its design prioritizes size efficiency, making it as small as possible while maintaining functionality.
Key components of the Mini OSD include an ATmega328P 8-bit microcontroller equipped with an Arduino bootloader and a MAX7456 monochrome on-screen display. Programming the Mini OSD is facilitated through a FTDI-compatible 6-pin cable.
As a companion On-Screen Display (OSD) board for APM, it seamlessly integrates with the APM telemetry stream, reading all the MAVLink data. It then overlays this data onto the video stream, particularly useful when utilizing an onboard camera and wireless video transmitter. This functionality proves invaluable for scenarios such as First Person View (FPV) flying or situations where using a laptop in the field for telemetry data visualization via Mission Planner is impractical or undesirable.
