TCRT5000 Single Channel Line Tracking Sensor Module
The TCRT5000 Single Channel Line Tracking Sensor Module serves as an excellent detector for line-following robots, featuring a potentiometer for adjusting sensor sensitivity. It functions as a carrier board for the TCRT5000 reflective optical sensor and is primarily intended for use in line-following robots, though it can also be applied in mini-sumo robots for line control. The module offers a digital output.
The operation of a line follower sensor hinges on the behavior of light. It leverages the contrast between black and white surfaces: white surfaces largely reflect light, while black surfaces absorb it. This principle guides the functionality of the line follower sensor, enabling it to discern and track lines based on these light interactions.
Each phototransistor is connected to a pull-up resistor to form a voltage divider that produces an analog voltage output between 0 V and VIN (which is typically 5 V) as a function of the reflected IR. The lower output voltage is an indication of greater reflection.
